What does Japes stand for?

A jape is an activity done to make someone laugh. That fits us rather well: we are in the business of making people happy.

What is a Deep dish pizza?

Deep dish pizza was created in Chicago in 1943. It is baked in a deep pan, giving it its distinctive tall edges. Compared with a traditional Italian pizza, the crust is crunchier and buttery, there is a more generous amount of ingredients, and the toppings are layered differently.

How do you choose the ingredients you will use?

We make those decisions together as a team. We arrange tastings, compare the options and vote. For our Chicago Deep Dish pepperoni, we tested 14 different types and the winning option received 31 votes from a team of 35.

Who are the people behind Japes?

Japes was founded by Jovana and Alex at the end of 2018, when they were both 26. Jovana studied economics and Alex was a professional kayaker until 2014, competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games and winning the World Cup in 2013. They first crossed paths through Red Bull in 2014, where Jovana worked in marketing and Alex was a sponsored athlete.
